August 2010 Newsletter

September is historically the driest month of the year and October we can see some great golf weather ... lots of golf left! The BC Golf House will be busy as well with five more hickory golf events on the schedule. Hopefully our paths will cross.

In October please watch for our 2011 membership drive to be launched. As you have read before, membership is the lifeblood of any organization and the BC Golf House is no different. We will be moving to an annual renewal initiative for the 2011 year starting in the fourth quarter of each year. we will look forward to your ongoing support!

Remember, golf is the game of a lifetime! Encourage a friend or relative to learn to play this year!

Sincerely,
Barrie McWha

Welcome our Newest Patrons

The membership continues to grow at the BC Golf House Society. It seems as though each time we conduct a hickory golf event, shortly afterwards, if not right at the event itself, we will get new members signing up through the website .... www.bcgolfhouse.com

In the past month or so the following have become Members (Patrons) and supporters of the Society:

Ron Blouin, (Vancouver)
James Cronk (Cronk Group Golf)
Gary Cohen, (Vancouver)
Allan Manson (Victoria GC)
Ken Stafford, (Victoria)
Rod Uhll (Sparwood GC)
Mike Cameron,( Powell River)
Dan Dodman (Cleveland Golf Srixon Canada)
Richard Park, (Vancouver)
Warren Roberstson family (Victoria)
Yonnie Yonemoto (Vancouver)

Membership in any society is important because it is the energy and interest of the membership that keeps an organization current and relevant and sustainable.

If you or any of your friends may be interested in becoming a Patron, please visit our web site. We will be unveiling an updated Membership Strategy and encourage everyone to join TODAY!

Remember, the BC Golf House Society depends upon the support of the golf community in BC. Any donation over $25 will receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes.

More Hickory Golf Events

On July 26 the BC Golf House took the Cleveland Golf Srixon hickory golf KP contest to the Cops for Cancer tournament at Cowichan GC. The hole, proudly sponsored by the central island region RBC, was a big hit. We also have to thank Bruce Williams of A Channel for making all the arrangements.

RBC Manager at Woodgrove Nanaimo, Anne Kuzminski, was on hand to help.

The hickory golf events calendar continues to be active. On September 2, the BC Golf House volunteers will be at Northview GC to participate in the Semiahmoo House Society event, and on September 18th we will be at the Golf Fore Gals windup at Green Acres GC. On September 29th we will be at Hazelmere G&CC for the Aquaform Tournament.

In October, BC Golf House volunteers will travel on the 1st to Vancouver Island for the Vancouver Island University tournament at Fairwinds GC. On October 16th, we are booked for the Capilano GC Men's Closing Day.

The Tradition Golf Classic at the
Victoria Golf Club

This year, thanks to the efforts of Scott Keenlyside, General Manager at the Island View Golf Centre and a former President of the Golf House Society, and the generous support of the Victoria GC, we will be holding a Golf House fundraising tournament in Victoria on October 4th.

The event will be the same format as The Traditions held in Vancouver, team stableford with gross points and full team handicap added after. It is a small field of only forty players and some foursomes have already been filled. The entry fee is $200 and includes tee gifts, golf, dinner and prizes. Golfers wishing to enjoy a special day of golf at a very special golf course may enter as singles, pairs or with a foursome.

The 2011 Tradition Golf Classic
at the Vancouver Golf Club

MARK YOUR CALENDARS....On Monday, May 16th, 2011, The Vancouver Golf Club is the site for the 2011 Tradition Golf Classic. The BC Golf House Society is privileged to be able to offer this wonderful club as the host course for our most important fund raising activity of the year. The last couple of years the event has not sold out due largely to the economic times, however, with lots of notice we are anticipating a sellout again in 2011 ... all the information is on our website at www.bcgolfhouse.com.

University Golf Club Presentation

University GC is not only the home of the BC Golf House, but also the site of the 2010 Tradition Golf Classic. At a recent Directors' meeting, President John Snyder presented Michael Mather, General Manager of the University Golf Club, with a plaque honouring the golf club's very generous contribution to the success of this year's event.
